POSITION SUMMARY:

The accounting specialist assists with the day-to-day functions of the Finance Department with a focus on accounts receivable and additional accounting support for the finance team. Other duties include but are not limited to reviewing A/P and A/R general ledger coding for accuracy, performing monthly cash reconciliations, processing A/R cash receipts entry from check, EFT, and ACH deposits and assisting with providing documentation for annual audits. 

Requirements

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND KNOWLEDGE QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. Associate's Degree in Accounting or 2 years related experience required. 
  2. 2-4 years of A/R work experience preferred. 
  3. 1-2 years’ experience in a Housing Authority preferred.

SKILLS AND ABILITIES QUALIFICATIONS AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS:

  1. Excellent oral and written communication skills are key to success in this position. 
  2. Must be organized with high attention to detail.
  3. Ability to take initiative and work independently to problem solve.
  4. Must be flexible with changing priorities and able to meet deadlines.
  5. Ability to quickly switch between tasks and various entities, which SPHA manages.
  6. Communicate in a diplomatic and professional manner.
  7. Computer skills including at least intermediate level experience with Microsoft Office Suite. 
  8. Capacity to learn or have previous experience with property management software.

$28.00 - $30.00 per hour based on experience and qualifications
